I have been a teacher for thirteen years and it was my love of children’s literature that inspired me to write books for my own students. After being part of Alma Flor Ada’s program, “Authors in the Classroom,” I decided to submit my manuscripts for publication. As a result, I have published three bilingual picture books and I have two other books under contract.
During my MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adult at Vermont College, I wrote a creative thesis about the immigrant experience in picture books and presented a lecture about authenticity in multicultural literature.
I plan to present my opinions and reactions towards bilingual and multicultural literature.
